Element Logic to deliver ‘world’s largest’ AutoStore installation at Prime Cargo warehouse

September 10, 2019 by Sam Francis

Element Logic, a warehouse automation provider which has developed a robotic piece-picking system, is to deliver what is claimed to be “the world’s largest AutoStore installation within third-party logistics” for Prime Cargo.

E-logistics company Prime Cargo says investing in the huge robot warehouse from AutoStore will “ensure faster deliveries”.

As the first provider of e-commerce logistics in Denmark, Prime Cargo now completely automates the product picking process.

This happens with the investment in a fully automatic AutoStore robot warehouse to be delivered by Element Logic.

The facility will be ready in June 2019 and will make Prime Cargo able to handle 20,000 orders per day from an inventory of over 500,000 item numbers.

The facility will be the world’s biggest AutoStore installation with a third-party logistics provider so far, so it really is a milestone in 3PL warehouse automation, says Nikolaj Bjørn Eriksen, Managing Director at Element Logic Denmark.

Prime Cargo says it can now offer its customers fast, high-quality deliveries in an internationally competitive market where logistics is an important parameter for success. We look forward to working with Prime Cargo, he explains.

Increased competitiveness

As a logistics partner, Prime Cargo handles and processes items from for instance a variety of online shops. This happens 24 hours per day, 365 days a year throughout Europe.

With the AutoStore system, Prime Cargo shortens the time from when the company receives the order until it is passed on to shipping companies.

At the same time, the system strengthens Prime Cargo’s ability to handle peak seasons and campaigns – for example, in connection with Black Friday sales in November.

We are one of the first logistics providers in Scandinavia to apply this technology. From Christmas 2019, we can offer our customers, who are larger online stores, automated picking in AutoStore.

We all know, online shopping is growing rapidly, and we want to enable our customers growth in an internationally competitive market.

Therefore, we see a huge potential in automation which supports their value chain, and consequently, the end customers will receive their products faster, says Managing Director at Prime Cargo Denmark, Morten Højlund.

Optimal utilisation of space

AutoStore is an extremely flexible and compact robot warehouse solution that can be tailored to the individual customer. The items are stored in crates stacked on top of each other in an aluminium grid, ensuring optimum use of space.

In Denmark, AutoStore is, among others, used by Proshop and EET Group.
