Where Innovation Meets Imagination

Husqvarna and Sogeti to set up joint robotic development centre in Mumbai

Sogeti is to set up a joint development centre for robotic research and development (R&D) in Mumbai with Husqvarna Group, a leading producer of outdoor power products, to further develop its robotic lawn mower technology.

Sogeti has been working with Husqvarna for over four years and, in 2015, it started a digital solution service centre from Mumbai.

The Husqvarna Automower Connect is just one of a number of digital innovations created by Husqvarna, supported by Sogeti’s local team in Mumbai taking a DevOps approach.

It enables users to control, re-program and position (using Google Maps) Husqvarna’s robotic lawn mowers via a mobile app.

As the market leader in robotic lawn mowers, Husqvarna’s new R&D partnership with Sogeti will now help to create greater opportunities for broader collaboration.

The new centre draws on the specific industry expertise of Husqvarna coupled with Sogeti’s embedded engineering talent.

Together, they will research and develop the next generation of robotic lawn mowers – and ultimately other outdoor power products – utilizing new and emerging Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities.

The collaboration will enable Husqvarna to speed up time to market of new robotics-led products at scale.

Lars Roos Global R&D Director Robotics, Husqvarna said, “Our ability to innovate and stay ahead of industry trends is critical for our ambition to remain in front as the market leader. Working in partnership with Sogeti to drive the R&D underpinning this is a key strategic step for us.”

Thobias Dencker, Account Executive, Chief Sales Officer at Sogeti said, “We are in the business of ‘making technology work’, drawing on innovative thinking to rapidly create value for our clients.

“The new joint development centre with Husqvarna, a leader in its field, is a natural fit with our own strategy to focus on helping clients respond to disruption with innovative solutions and expertise.”
