Shinkei Systems, which says it “sets the new standard for the very best fish through its robotics technology”, says it will more than double the size of its corporate footprint with a new headquarters in El Segundo, California.
As one of the fastest-growing food robotics startups in the country, Shinkei moved into a new 15,000 square foot space at El Segundo’s Standard Works campus, located in the heart of LA’s thriving coastal tech hub.
The multipurpose space at 1301 El Segundo Blvd. will be used to engineer, test, and manufacture the company’s robotic systems, as well as serve as the corporate offices for its premium seafood brand, Seremoni.
The expansion follows Shinkei’s recent $22 million Series A round co-led by Founders Fund and Interlagos, and supports the company’s mission to reimagine the seafood supply chain.
Founded by Saif Khawaja in 2021, Shinkei Systems is the only company to scale humane, high-quality fish harvesting. Its proprietary end-to-end tech stack marries patented robotics, cold chain logistics, traceability, and centuries-old Japanese techniques to make Michelin-quality seafood accessible to all.

The resulting catch is Seremoni Grade seafood. It has an exceptional flavor, delicate texture, and is significantly more sustainable than conventional fishing.
Up to two-thirds of wild-caught fish go to waste because of poor handling and bycatch. Shinkei’s precision robotics ensures every fish caught reaches a plate and extends the shelf life by up to three times longer than conventionally harvested seafood.
Saif Khawaja, CEO and co-founder of Shinkei Systems, says: “Our El Segundo headquarters represent more than just a new address – this space signals our next chapter of growth.
“We’re in close proximity to brilliant engineering minds, talented chefs, and the abundant California shoreline. This move gives us the resources we need to keep scaling our mission to bring the world’s most delicious seafood to more plates.”
Seremoni was co-founded by Saif Khawaja and Reed Ginsberg in 2024 and sets a new standard for the world’s best fish. Seremoni Grade Black Cod, Black Sea Bass, Vermilion Rockfish and Red Snapper have quickly caught the attention of the world’s top chefs and seafood lovers alike.
In just six months on the market, they have been featured on the menus of acclaimed restaurants around the country – including LA’s standouts Sushi Zo, YESS, Providence, Kato, the Alinea popup at The Maybourne Beverly Hills, Gjelina, Crudo E Nudo, Kato, and Pasjoli, as well as nationally renowned restaurants like Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Atomix, and Restaurant Daniel.
The El Segundo headquarters will serve as the innovation engine where Shinkei will develop its next seafood technology breakthrough.
The company is hiring a number of engineers to work alongside CTO and co-founder Reed Ginsberg to bring advanced analytics, automation, and industry-leading traceability to the antiquated seafood business.
Ginsberg says: “El Segundo’s legacy in aerospace makes it an ideal home for Shinkei. During my four years at SpaceX, I had the incredible opportunity to lead a team focused on engineering systems built for extreme environments – experience that directly informs the work we’re doing now to build robust robotics for the ocean.
“We’re actively looking for talented engineers who want to take on the challenge to modernize the seafood industry. If you want to design advanced robotics generating real value in the field today, this is the place to do it.”
