CynLr brings object intelligence and vision of universal factories to UN summit on AI

July 14, 2025 by David Edwards

CynLr also opens new US center for business development

CynLr, a foundational technology building company in robotics and AI, is joining the United Nations AI for Good Global Summit 2025 to share its pioneering work in “object intelligence”, the technology stack that enables visual robots to intuitively learn to pick and handle even unknown objects without prior training, much like how human babies explore and manipulate objects.

CyRo is designed to handle unfamiliar objects and changing environments without needing to be pre-programmed for each new task.

CynLr’s work aims to lay the groundwork for “universal factories”, where decentralized micro factories can be programmatically repurposed to manufacture a wide range of products, supporting sustainable and personalized production.

Organized by the International Telecommunication Union, AI for Good is the United Nations’ flagship platform exploring how artificial intelligence can help address global challenges such as sustainability, health, and industrial resilience.

This year’s summit convenes leaders who have shaped the field of artificial intelligence, including the “Godfathers of Deep Learning”: Yoshua Bengio, Geoffrey Hinton, and Yann LeCun, along with industry leaders such as Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce, and Werner Vogels, CTO of Amazon.

They join heads of United Nations agencies, ministers, scientists, Industry CXOs and innovators to discuss how AI can contribute to a more sustainable and equitable future.

While machine learning has transformed how computers understand data, language, and patterns, significant gaps persist in the physical world where unpredictability is the norm.

Robots frequently falter in scenarios involving shifting parts, variable lighting, or objects arriving in unforeseen orientations.

These tasks require adapting on the fly and remain non-automatable because conventional systems rely on fixed programming and prior training. Traditional AI models depend heavily on controlled training data and struggle to generalize beyond it.

Gokul N A, founder of CynLr, says: “Bridging the gap between perception and action and enabling robots to reason about and interact with objects in real time, remains one of the most important challenges in AI and robotics.

“Our work with CyRo is not about dismissing machine learning but about building on its strengths and directly addressing its boundaries.

“CyRo does not simply move objects as they were trained for. It intuitively comprehends even unknown objects, adapts in real time, just like human babies do.

“We believe this is the path toward enabling robotics to operate in the same unpredictable world that humans navigate every day.

“This vision of Object Intelligence is crucial if we are to move from the factories of today toward ‘universal factories’ capable of simple yet flexible, sustainable production.”

CynLr’s invitation to present at the United Nations’ AI for Good Global Summit comes shortly after it was recognized as a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum.

This distinction is awarded to companies whose innovations have the potential to significantly influence business and society.

For CynLr, the recognition underscores the role of perception-driven robotics in simplifying manufacturing, enabling a shift from resource-intensive giga factories to lean, reusable micro factories that reduce material waste and environmental impact.
