Lab0 hires directors from Amazon Robotics and U-Haul

March 28, 2025 by David Edwards

Lab0, a robotics and automation company, has appointed Jim Grogan and Kelly Riedel to its board of directors.

With deep expertise in corporate governance, automation, and logistics, these industry veterans will help guide Lab0’s strategic direction as it scales innovation in AI-driven warehouse automation and autonomous logistics.

Lab0 has established its board of directors to guide its next phase of growth and innovation in robotics automation.

With deep experience in logistics, automation, and corporate strategy, the newly appointed board members will help shape Lab0’s vision, drive business growth, and strengthen its position as a leader in end-to-end supply chain automation.

Grogan, board member, U-Haul Holding Company, is an experienced corporate leader with a background in governance, strategic oversight, and investment management.

He is a board certified director by the National Association of Corporate Directors and has been a Board Leadership Fellow since 2014. Previously, he served as president and CEO of Sterling Financial and has held board positions at multiple public and private companies.

With expertise in private equity, real estate operations, and enterprise consulting, Grogan has spent over a decade advising a global private enterprise on investment strategies and operational growth.

He currently serves on the boards of U-Haul Holding Company, Drees Homes, and startup Bunafr, bringing valuable governance experience that will help Lab0 scale and strengthen its market position.

Riedel, former head of operations, Amazon Robotics, is an experienced operations and technology executive with a background in robotics, automation, and large-scale business management.

She currently serves as Chief Operating Officer at LightForce Orthodontics and is a board member at OPT Industries. Previously, Riedel led operations for Amazon Robotics, overseeing manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, production engineering, and business operations.

She played a key role in scaling Amazon’s robotics technologies and optimizing automation in logistics. Prior to that, she served as Head of Legal at Amazon Robotics, providing strategic counsel on robotics and AI-driven automation.

Her expertise in both operations and legal strategy will be instrumental in guiding Lab0’s growth and helping to strengthen the scalability and reliability of its automation solutions.

Steve Toebes, CEO of Lab0, says: “Bringing together leaders with deep expertise in automation, logistics, and scaling complex operations is critical as Lab0 moves into its next phase of growth.

“Jim and Kelly have been leaders in transforming supply chain and robotics strategies for some of the world’s largest enterprises.

“Their leadership will help us accelerate innovation, expand our market presence, and push the boundaries of what’s possible in AI-driven automation.”
