ABB says its technology is integarted into in 40 Vattenfall fast-charging stations across Sweden.
ABB is supporting European energy company Vattenfall develop a comprehensive electric vehicle charging network in Sweden, with a complete solution that includes both the fast-charging station and all the necessary grid connection hardware.
The technology from ABB is now charging EVs at almost 40 public locations across Sweden for Vattenfall.
As part of Vattenfall’s strategy to make fossil fuel-free living possible in Sweden within a single generation, the company is installing electric vehicle chargers across the country.
ABB technology ensures the stations provide the reliability drivers need and the durability demanded by Sweden’s harsh winter conditions.

Vattenfall is using ABB’s DC 50kW Terra fast-charging station, which provides a fast charge on the go for the most common battery sizes within 30 to 45 minutes.
The ABB Terra uses open standards to offer a future-proof connection as well as remote monitoring and remote assistance functions via the ABB Ability platform.

The solution comprises a robust outdoor cabinet, busbars, fusegear and switches, all specifically designed to meet the demands of outdoor environments.
The grid connection solution was tested and verified complete as a system, fulfilling regulatory requirements for power distribution in public networks and comes fully assembled from ABB’s advanced manufacturing facility in Alingsås, Sweden.
It provides a safe, intelligent connection to the public power grid, ensuring the charging stations provide a reliable service to drivers throughout their lifetime.
The fully assembled grid connection solution for EV chargers also minimizes the commissioning time at sites, speeding up delivery for short project lead times.
It was finished in a customer-specified shade to match the EV charger and also incorporates a dedicated space for a billing meter.
