Kuka launches new range of Fortec industrial robotic arms

February 14, 2023 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

Industrial robot maker Kuka has launched a new range of Fortec industrial robotic arms, saying that they especially meet the new requirements of the electromobility sector.

The company says the robots of the KR Fortec ultra family “set new standards” in the heavy payload range from 480 kg to 800 kg, adding that they are ideally rated for high payloads and moments of inertia.

The new Kuka KR Fortec ultra family includes five robot variants – each ideally suited to a specific application. The KR 800, for example, handles payloads up to 800 kg. The two KR 480 variants reach up to 3,700 mm. [Read more…] about Kuka launches new range of Fortec industrial robotic arms

Kuka releases ‘one of the strongest and fastest delta robots on the market’

February 8, 2023 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

Kuka has released a new delta robot, the KR 3 D1200, which is specially designed for pick-and-place of foodstuffs, among other applications, and carries up to 6 kg at high speed.

Part of the Kuka Hygienic Oil (HO) portfolio, the new KR 3 D1200 performs various pick-and-place tasks at “previously unattainable speeds” with maximum precision, according to Kuka, which adds that it now moves up to 6 kg of food, medicine or electronic parts.

Although the KR 3 D1200 has a rated payload of 3 kg, it is designed for loads of up to 6 kg. This makes it “one of the strongest delta robots on the market”. [Read more…] about Kuka releases ‘one of the strongest and fastest delta robots on the market’

Kuka unveils new compact autonomous mobile robot for intralogistics

February 6, 2023 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

Kuka has expanded its portfolio of mobile platforms with the unveiling of a new autonomous mobile robot for intralogistics.

Describing it as a “compact powerhouse meets the highest safety requirements”, Kuka says the new generation of the KMP 600-S diffDrive is “fast – up to two meters per second – and equally safe, thanks to laser scanners and 3D object detection”.

Mobile solutions must meet extremely high standards for industrial use, says the company. The Kuka KMP 600-S diffDrive mobile platform provides a new automated guided vehicle system with high-speed support for production intralogistics and a payload of up to 600 kg. Skyline Robotics uses Kuka industrial robot to clean skyscraper windows

November 1, 2022 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

Skyline Robotics says it has succeeded in automating window washing for the world’s skyscrapers – a task that has been done manually for over 100 years.

To automate the window-cleaning task, Skyline developed “Ozmo”, a system that combines an industrial robot, computerized vision system, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning technologies.

What formerly required three to four months of manual labor, Ozmo does automatically in about half the time. But most importantly, the system ensures safety by removing human workers from the window washing platform or “basket”. Kuka teams up with DesignPro to develop robotic welding processes

July 29, 2022 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

Industrial robot maker Kuka has teamed up with automation technology developer DesignPro to create new, advanced robotic welding processes.

Automating the welding process and employing robots enables manufacturers to achieve significant returns across several areas: application precision, speed and agility of task execution, waste reductions and increased safety.

The skills gap is also driving the take-up of automated robotics, as a means to sustain legacy manufacturing processes and support operational resilience. [Read more…] about Kuka teams up with DesignPro to develop robotic welding processes
