Autonomous car from Italian university wins the racing challenge

A team called PoliMOVE, from Politecnico di Milano in Italy, has won the second annual Indy Autonomous Challenge @ CES.

The team’s car reached a maximum speed of 180 mph (290Km/h), a new autonomous speed world record for a racetrack.

Pushing boundaries of head-to-head autonomous-racing, PoliMOVE competed at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway against a field of nine teams from 17 universities spanning six countries, seeking to break autonomous racing records. AutoStore launches new robotic system for warehouses

AutoStore, a warehouse automation company, has launched Pio, short for “Product In/Out”, which is basically an automated storage and retrieval system, or ASRS.

The company describes it as a “plug-and-play version” of its AutoStore cube storage technology tailored.

Pio has been specially designed for small and medium-sized businesses.

Based on a pay-per-pick service model, Pio allows SMBs, such as retailers of apparel, sporting goods, crafts, and cosmetics, to deploy robotic automation for a relatively low investment – enabling more businesses to gain access to the world’s best automation technology. GUSS delivers its 200th autonomous crop sprayer

In 2014, when commercial spray business owner Dave Crinklaw drew a design on his shop floor of what he envisioned the solution to his labor challenges and inefficiencies to be, the journey to building the first autonomous sprayer began.

After several years of prototype development and refinement, the award winning GUSS was delivered to the first customer in 2019.

Today, GUSS Automation has found great success and recognition for the innovation of GUSS autonomous sprayers. Aerones raises $30 million to develop wind turbine maintenance robot

Aerones, a Latvia-based company specializing in robot-enabled wind turbine maintenance and inspection, has secured $30 million in growth capital to scale its business globally.

The capital will be used to help the Company meet surging demand in a market which is expected to reach $50 billion in value by 2028.

Festo automation technology aids restoration of Notre-Dame Cathedral

Rapid leaps in innovation characterise the development of additive manufacturing processes. Rotterdam-based company Concr3de has been working on a 3D printer for stone for more than five years, developing an inkjet technique to participate in the reconstruction of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. They achieved this aim using automation technology from Festo.

Architectural applications were the catalyst for the development of Armadillo White, the inkjet 3D stone printer.

The founders of Concr3de, architects Eric Geboers and Matteo Baldessari, started with a geopolymer – a material made by binding a residual product from the coal and steel industry with a chemical binder (“ink”).
