Badger Technologies sends autonomous security robot to patrol US National Veterans Memorial and Museum

November 9, 2021 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

Badger Technologies, a product division of Jabil and leader in retail automation, is collaborating with TrackTik Software, a leader in cloud-based security workforce management, to automate manual security checks at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum in Columbus, Ohio.

A pilot program is under way using Badger PatrolBot autonomous robot and TrackTik software to augment the museum’s 24/7 security team, safeguard world-class exhibits and offer an extra measure of protection to museum visitors and staff.

As the nation’s first and only memorial dedicated solely to telling the stories of veterans, NVMM is honoring the courageous women who have served their country by naming the robot “Deborah” after Deborah Sampson. Developers Using AI to Automate Custom Software Engineering Processes

November 9, 2021 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

Developers around the world are using advanced artificial intelligence to effectively automate custom software engineering processes.

There are several distinct use cases for AI in manufacturing, software programming, and technological innovation. In fact, more then 50 percent of tech professionals are already using these solutions to streamline repetitive tasks, minimize human error, and reduce workforce expenses.

When properly integrated into the custom software development life cycle (SDLC), programmers can make faster decisions, operate 24/7, and accelerate product releases. As a programmer yourself, this may even help you solve complex problems and maximize operational efficiency. Read on to learn about the developers using AI to automate custom software engineering processes. [Read more…] about Developers Using AI to Automate Custom Software Engineering Processes

Seeing the wood for the trees: Why natural feature matching navigation works so well for mobile robots

November 9, 2021 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

For automated guided vehicles and autonomous mobile robots to operate, they need to know where they are, where they need to go, and how to get there.

While simple “line following” technologies have their place, they have high installation overheads and, because they require changes to permanent infrastructure, do not lend themselves to adaptation to new requirements.

Natural feature matching navigation is based on using permanent features along the route of the AMR, is easier to install and more flexible for future needs. But how does it work and why does it work so well? [Read more…] about Seeing the wood for the trees: Why natural feature matching navigation works so well for mobile robots

Tennant launches ‘industry’s first’ robotic floor scrubber for large spaces

November 9, 2021 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

Tennant Company, a company which designs and manufactures industrial cleaning systems, is launching its newest and largest autonomous floor cleaning machine, the T16AMR Robotic Floor Scrubber.

This industrial-grade autonomous scrubber is “ideal for larger facilities”, says the company, adding that it is the first of its kind.

Featuring a wider scrub path and higher tank capacity, it allows for consistent, efficient cleaning while reducing total cost of ownership. This is the third AMR in Tennant’s lineup and the industry’s first AMR built on an industrial scrubber platform. Enabling manufacturing innovation with the virtual twin experience

November 9, 2021 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

Manufacturers in just about every industry are already embracing the reality of Industry 4.0 – that the digital transformation of factories is necessary, replacing manual processes with automated systems in cyber-physical smart factories.

This is crucial to manufacturers as challenges caused by global disruptions can make it even more challenging for them to ramp up production to satisfy ever-volatile market demands.

There are many subtle differences in the obstacles faced by manufacturers in different industries, but there are also a few key challenges that all manufacturers have in common. Having a limited number of assembly lines makes it difficult for manufacturers to keep up with the rising demand for customised products as well as the accelerating rate of innovation (and by extension, obsolescence) in new products.

Many manufacturers still lack the visibility required to respond to supply and demand volatility in an agile manner. At the same time, it can be challenging to be mindful of the growing list of certifications required and regulations that manufacturers need to comply with – in addition to the growing pressure for manufacturers to shift towards more sustainable practices.
