GreyOrange expands robotics reach to new European markets

GreyOrange, a warehouse robotics and automation company, has expanded its GreyMatter operating system and Ranger MoveSmart robots in Active Ants’ e-fulfilment centre in Willebroek, Belgium.

GreyOrange says its solution to modern fulfilment has already been providing higher value and higher levels of efficiency to the Active Ants fulfilment centre in The Netherlands and has since scaled its offering to the Belgian market in preparation for surges in eCommerce demand over the end of year holiday period.

The expansion is the start of a programme to improve efficiencies across several warehouses in Europe.

Active Ants provides warehousing services to eCommerce companies across Europe improving the efficiency and accuracy of e-fulfilment through innovation, automation and the deployment of robots.

Active Ants stores, packs and distributes goods for more than 5 million annual orders for over 250 retailers.

The GreyMatter operating system and Ranger MoveSmart robots work across the entire fulfilment journey from carton erection, initial product packaging to destination sorting, accelerating the delivery time for end customers and cutting costs.

As a software solution, the robots can adapt and scale to the needs of future Active Ants to continue to deliver accurate and efficient e-fulfilment services to customers.

Jan Heijblom, sales manager at GreyOrange, says: “End customers are demanding more from their eCommerce engagements with our research revealing that almost half of consumers expect their online orders to be delivered within two days.

“Web shops and retail organisations can’t afford to fall behind when it comes to delivery times because if orders are late, customers will take their business elsewhere.

“GreyOrange’s multi-purpose robots empower Active Ants to deliver faster and more accurate e-fulfilment services for customers and adapt their processes as market dynamics change and consumer demands grow.”

Jean Lahaye, founder at Active Ants, says: “We’ve seen huge success in our Dutch warehouse, and we want to expand and replicate that success in the Belgian market and beyond.

“The GreyMatter operating system and family of Ranger robots means we are not restricted to the current landscape but can scale and modify the solutions according to our customers’ needs and prepare for the future of retail.”
