AutoGuide Mobile Robots recently organised a series of webinars in association with Robotics and Automation News. All three webinars contained expert advice for deploying autonomous mobile robots at your facility and took place in November, December and January. A recording of all three webinars is available here.
The first webinar dealt with the five things you should know if you are thinking about bringing AMRs into your operation. In the webinar, experts from AutoGuide shared their knowledge and experience on where to begin, crunching the numbers, necessary infrastructure, ensuring your existing technology and management systems can co-exist with and thrive alongside new AMR systems. They also discussed how you can make sure you choose AMR technology that can grow and adapt with your operation.
The second webinar in December looked at Mobile Robot Safety: Risks, Responsibilities and ROI. It goes without saying that efficiency and safety are often considered the cornerstones of the autonomous mobile robot advantage and they explained what this means. In the webinar experts discussed the risks inherent in high-payload material transport and how automation can reduce them as well as the responsibilities of robot manufacturers, integrators and owners based on standards and regulations. Listeners were given an overview of risk assessment requirements and it was explained how to break down costs related to safety and incorporate them into ROI calculations. An example of a Tier 1 auto manufacturer’s “fork free” initiative was used.
The third webinar introduced autonomous storage and retrieval. Thanks to AutoGuide Mobile ASRS, what used to be automatic and heavy is now autonomous and light. Global enterprises today have been known to spend €40 to €80 million to build out automated storage & retrieval systems (ASRS) within their operations. These staggering costs and limitations of highly inflexible systems are keeping smaller organizations from upgrading critical storage and retrieval systems to stay competitive. The experts who took part in the webinar explained how autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) are opening up ASRS for all facilities, regardless of size and talked about he benefits and limitations of traditional ASR, how a comprehensive autonomous mobile robot system can deliver ASRS capabilities to small and medium sized operations, how a return on your investment can quickly be achieve and how to get started.
