Prophesee launches Metavision Intelligence Suite

Prophesee, inventor of the most advanced neuromorphic vision systems, announced the availability of its Metavision Intelligence suite.

It is the industry’s most comprehensive set of development tools for accelerating the process of exploring and implementing Event-Based Vision technology in machine vision systems.

The three components of the suite – Player, Designer and SDK – are each aimed at different stages of the design process and provide engineers and software developers with a means to easily iterate and customize designs that fully leverage the efficiency and performance of Event-Based Vision. The autonomous mobility industry is tackling part of the last-mile problem that many commuters encounter when using public transportation by replacing large, diesel buses with a fleet of electric, self-driving shuttle buses that transport small groups of people along defined and planned routes.

Autonomous shuttles could be a key element that connects the public transportation systems to reduce private car ownership in the future.

Delivery vehicles moving to electric ecosystem

The unlikely convergence of a global pandemic and electric vehicle technology is driving delivery fleets to adopt electric vehicles at ever increasing rates.

The coronavirus pandemic has reportedly caused a huge spike in package delivery. According to CNBC.com, UPS for instance, delivered up to 21.1 million packages a day in the second quarter of 2020, a nearly 23 percent jump in average daily US volume from a year earlier.

SVV claims China’s first dedicated low-volume manufacturing facility

Product development and engineering company Shenzen Valley Ventures (SVV) says its​ new manufacturing facility in China is its “first tier-1 facility” in the country. (See 3D tour of the facility.)

Located on the 9th floor of a skyscraper, SVV says it is “the most impressionable manufacturing facility in the Greater Bay Area’s Shenzhen”.

DSM and Nedcam collaborate on 3D printing

Royal DSM, a global science-based company in nutrition, health and sustainable living, and Nedcam, a provider of solutions for the realization of 3D shapes, are collaborating to improve access to scalable Fused Granulate Fabrication (FGF) 3D printing.

Nedcam will be offering FGF 3D printing using DSM materials and the two companies will explore new applications in tooling, large-size and circular end-use parts.

Tesla defies odds and paces up hiring to maintain market leadership

Despite the automotive industry suffering through the challenges brought on by COVID-19, Tesla has defied the odds and continued to hire at a higher rate than average throughout the pandemic.

According to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database, hiring in the global automotive industry remained mostly flat, with job postings seeing decline in Q2 before showing signs of recovery in Q3 2020.
