Kuka launches new industrial robot

Kuka has unveiled a major new addition to its range of industrial robots – the KR Iontec.

The Iontec has a payload of 30 to 70 kilograms and a reach of 2100mm to 2500mm.

Introducing the robot on its website, Kuka says: “With the KR Iontec, you are opting for a highly flexible robot with the best work envelope in its class and a flexible mounting position for a wide range of applications.”

The industrial automation specialist says the KR Iontec combined “compact design with the largest working envelope in its class” for optimal use of space with a small footprint.

The robot is said to be able to operate on the floor, on the wall or inclined.

Equipped with a waterproof and dustproof in-line wrist and protected motors, the robot is also suitable for almost every area of application.

A foundry option also enables use in extremely hot environments with an expanded temperature range from 0º to 55ºC.

Other features Kuka lists for the KR Iontec include:

  • Sustainably cost-efficient: With low energy consumption, low operating costs and low maintenance, the KR Iontec significantly reduces costs.
  • Maximum flexibility: Thanks to its flexible installation position and convertible payload capacity, the KR Iontec is suitable for various applications and can be adapted to specific requirements.
  • Maximum availability: The KR Iontec has a technical availability of 99.999 per cent with a mean time between failures of 400,000 hours.
  • Optimized design: Its streamlined design means that the KR Iontec allows for compact cells with a small footprint.

Kuka suggests that purchasing the KR Iontec would represents “an investment in the future of your production”.

It says that the robot has “the highest output with a low total cost of ownership and high lifecycle efficiency”.

Kuka adds that the KR Iontec “convinces in the classical as well as the digital worlds of production through top performance”, and the “low investment costs” would provide for a unique variety of applications.
