Showcasing the future of nonwoven materials

Visitors and exhibitors will gather at Index 20, the world’s leading nonwovens exhibition, in Geneva from 31st March to 3rd April 2020, to participate in the industry’s largest platform for cutting-edge nonwoven technologies.

Non-woven fabric is a fabric-like material made from staple fibre and long fibres, bonded together by chemical, mechanical, heat or solvent treatment. The term is used in the textile manufacturing industry to denote fabrics, such as felt, which are neither woven nor knitted. The applications of nonwovens are many and varied, and include many in the automotive industry.

Over the course of four days of the Index event, more than 13,500 visitors and over 750 exhibitors representing around 100 countries will gather to meet like-minded professionals as well as take part in industry workshops, seminars, and networking events.

Advances in nonwovens continue to be at the forefront of a cross-section of influential industries, spanning filtration, infection prevention, transportation, hygiene and cleaning, geotextiles and civil engineering.

Innovations in nonwoven materials open new doors for industries looking to improve the accessibility, affordability, and most importantly the efficacy, of their products.

In response to the ever-increasing global demand for sustainability in all facets of manufacturing and development, this year’s visitors to Index 20 can expect exhibitors to display a broad range of new concepts and applications addressing this key issue.

To emphasise the importance of seeking increased recyclability and circularity within the sector, a free seminar dedicated to “Sustainability Transition” will take place on the afternoon of the first day, 31st March, to discuss this cardinal topic and examine a variety of potential solutions.

The show organisers are delighted to announce the launch of the Innovation Lab at Index 20 and hope that this new addition to the show will attract visitors from students to CEOs interested in learning more about the subject of sustainability and recyclability in nonwovens.

The Lab will show the innovative qualities of nonwovens and how their diverse characteristics can be modified to suit a multitude of applications.

It will provide a dedicated space to showcase innovation and R&D and include demonstrations of experiments and testing which will demonstrate the variety and diversity of nonwovens.

Other activities taking place in the Lab will include exhibits demonstrating the remarkable properties of nonwovens across a wide range of applications, from both durable and personal care sectors, and poster presentations on current research.

The “Smart Nonwovens” seminar will take a closer look at the new frontiers of these versatile materials. These and many other examples, displays and events will be showcased at Index 20, once again demonstrating the varied functionality and attributes of nonwovens.

The products and services of the nominees of the prestigious Index Innovation Awards will also be on display, with the winners being announced live on the opening day of the event.
