Kollmorgen says its new servo motor offers ‘greater performance’

Kollmorgen says its automation partners are “delighted” about the company’s new servo motor, the AKM2G.

“Smaller with greater performance. That is a very good combination, allowing us to equip machines better and more flexibly.”

These were the comments often heard at the Kollmorgen European partner event.

During the two-day event at the European head office in Ratingen, the specialist in servo drive technology and motion control demonstrated the opportunities the second servo motor generation AKM2G offers, particularly in the field of machine performance.

No partners from Europe or India bypassed the opportunity to gain expertise directly from the manufacturer.

Everyone benefits from this close and cooperative interchange – the end customers in particular.

This time the partner event was under the heading of “Together we can achieve more”.

As a result, there was plenty of opportunity for discussions with other partners and Kollmorgen experts.

Above all, they shared in-depth technical knowledge of the current automation solutions and future innovations.

The second generation of the type AKM2G synchronous servo motor, for example, delivers up to 30 percent higher power density with its optimized stator winding technology, says Kollmorgen.

Kollmorgen has succeeded in making a noticeable reduction in winding losses which is a further improvement to the already very good current speed-to-torque ratio of the existing AKM servo motors.

Another plus point of the new servo motor generation, says Kollmorgen, is that the “smoother cogging behavior” noticeably increases the control accuracy.

“Our second generation AKM2G offers our partners greater performance with the same construction volume,” says Jan Treede, host and Managing Director of Kollmorgen Europe.
