The global market for surgical robotics is set to reach almost $100 billion by 2024, according to KBV Research.

According to a new report, Surgical Robotics Market, published by KBV Research, the Surgical Robotics market is expected to attain a market size of $98 billion by 2024, growing at an annual growth rate of 8.4 percent during the forecast period.

Rubedos launches 3D visual perception system for robot applications

The company says its new Viper system “equips robots with eyes and brain”.

Smart Parks uses advanced sensors to save endangered black rhinos. Fewer than 900 left

Over the past few months, Smart Parks has improved and expanded its current installation at the eastern black rhino sanctuary based in Mkomazi, Tanzania. (See video below.)

With a zero poaching track record and an increasing population, this sanctuary runs one of the most successful eastern black rhino breeding programs.

China’s GAC partners with Aisin to construct new $700 million factory to build autonomous cars

One of China’s largest automakers, GAC, has partnered with smart vehicle developer Aisin to establish a massive new factory.

GAC says the first phase of its “new energy intelligent and ecological factory” has been completed.

Mercedes-Benz uses 3D printing for ‘classic’ replacement parts

Mercedes-Benz has been offering 3D printed replacement commercial vehicle parts since 2016, now further replacement parts have passed quality assurance and are coming onto the market.

The inside mirror base for the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Coupé (W 198 model series), the spark plug holder from the tool kit of this iconic sports car as well as the sliding sunroof rollers for the W 110, W 111, W 112 and W 123 model series: these are important replacement parts for faithfully maintaining this classic of the brand.

Mercedes-Benz Classic has them newly produced in a 3D print. The process is particularly well-suited to smaller quantities, which allows gaps in the replacement part supply of classic vehicles to be closed.

Infineon and TTTech Auto collaborate for level 4 and 5 automated driving

Semiconductor firm Infineon Technologies AG and TTTech Auto, a leader in safety platforms for automated driving, have just released the second generation of their fully integrated automotive-grade safety solution for automated driving use cases.

It is based on Infineon’s AURIX™ TC397XM microcontroller and TTTech Auto’s MotionWise safety software platform.

It delivers full support and scalability for level 2+ solutions up to the advanced levels 4 and 5 of automated driving. It is said to help customers achieve faster time-to-market, improved software integration and validation thus reducing overall cost.

LG Electronics to show latest wearable robots at CES 2019

At CES 2019, LG Electronics (LG) will debut an updated version of its wearable CLOi SuitBot alongside a lineup of improved service robots which are nearing commercialisation.

The SuitBot supports the lower body to reduce stress when lifting and bending while the enhanced CLOi service robots – PorterBot, ServeBot and CartBot – will demonstrate their more advanced capabilities.

Originally unveiled last year in Berlin, the updated SuitBot supports the user’s waist and augments their own muscle power to reduce the risk of injury and fatigue when performing physically demanding tasks such as lifting and lowering heavy loads.
