JTEKT builds new car-part plant in Morocco

JTEKT Corporation recently held a ground-breaking ceremony to celebrate the construction of its new steering system production facility in Tangier, Morocco.

Production at JTEKT Automotive Morocco is set to begin in 2020 with a target annual capacity of 230,000 electric power steering systems for local plants of international carmakers.

The 11,300 sqm plant in the heart of Tangier Automotive City will also accommodate production lines for Fuji Autotech Morocco, a JTEKT subsidiary which produces manual columns.

“This new manufacturing plant in North Africa will allow us to offer our customers the local supply chain they need while giving JTEKT an access to the African & Middle East markets, which enjoy major business growth” said Tetsuo Agata, President of JTEKT Corporation.
