Formlabs takes 3D printing to Hannover

Formlabs, the designer and manufacturer of powerful and accessible 3D printing systems, demonstrated how additive manufacturing is changing the landscape for traditional manufacturing methods at this year’s Hannover Messe event.

At SAP’s booth, Form Cell, a fully automated 3D printing platform, was on display, printing factory-floor spare parts such as a gripper and valve along with customized plate cards and pens.

The print examples highlighted the strength of a product such as Form Cell in an industrial manufacturing or service provider environment where multiple prints need to be running simultaneously with different resin materials to make customized prints.

The process from customer order to final print was showcased with Form Cell, Materialise Magics 3D Print Suite, SAP® Distributed Manufacturing and SAP Manufacturing Execution.

With this software integration, additive manufacturing can be brought into a fully digital production process and connect directly with business systems.

At the Formlabs booth, the company featured Fuse 1 for the first time to an EU audience. Along with Color Kit, a colour mixing solution for Formlabs standard resin and two new engineering resins, Rigid and Grey Pro, for the Form 2 3D printer.

“3D printing continues to find its way onto manufacturing floors as part of the production process, and more recently for end use parts,” said Dávid Lakatos, Chief Product Officer at Formlabs.

“With SAP and Materialise, users will be able to more easily manage printing intake requests for the Form Cell and integrate 3D printing into the production workflow.”
