Kuka teams up with Homag to develop robotic solutions for wood processing industry

Industrial robot maker Kuka is teaming up with Homag, one of the world’s largest suppliers of machinery and automation solutions to the wood processing industry.

The two companies their goal is the joint development of automated solutions for the wood processing industry.

The Kuka Group is represented around the world with its products and services for a wide range of industries, from the automotive industry and the electronics sector to the healthcare sector to name just a few examples. 

However, the wood processing sector is somewhat new to robotics technologies even though it is a huge industry, supplying anything from furniture makers to architects and engineers.

The partnership between Kuka and Homag may help accelerate the wider adoption of robotics in the wood industry.

Kuka and Homag says their partnership will involve “intensive cooperation” in global development projects.

Two projects have already been launched in China and Germany.

The focus is also on the sale of automated solutions for the global wood processing market.

Both companies say they will “mutually benefit” from each other’s know-how.

Kuka brings experience in the field of robotics and automation into the partnership, while Homag has extensive knowledge of the processes in the wood processing industry.
