Industrial computing specialist Distec has agreed a deal to stock the Wincomm Range of 15″, 19″ and 21.5″ fully waterproof industrial PCs.

The Manchester, UK based company, which supplies touchscreens, PCs and computing accessories to sectors including the food and beverage industry, says it has chosen the Wincomm range for its high quality components, which make it suitable for even the toughest environments.

The Wincomm range is particularly designed for the food and beverage industry, abattoirs and chemical plants, where PCs can be exposed to dangerous or unhygienic solids or liquids. Wincomm industrial PCs are housed in stainless, high-strength, anti-corrosion housing, meaning they will not wear over time.

The Wincomm PC’s feature a fanless design, which requires high levels of design engineering. This means the equipment can be fully sealed, as it removes the need for ventilation, but it still can maintain a suitable working temperature, to stop the product overheating.

The PC’s also have a special thermal design with anti-condensation features, to ensure that while they are fully enclosed, the screens will still be visible in all environments.

Noel Shepherd, director at Distec, says: “All of our products at Distec are carefully selected for their quality.

“This range features a high ingress protection (IP) rating, a mark of its quality. The enclosure itself is IP66 rated, meaning it is totally protected against dust and protected against strong jets of water.

“The power adapter and external I/O cables are IP67 rated against the effects of temporary immersion in up to one metre of water for up to thirty minutes. The connectors are IP68 rated against solids and are protected against long periods of immersion.

“These high levels of ingress protection would not be usually required in a factory where there may be low levels of contamination from touch or accidental spray.

“However, if there was to be a high pressure leak or a high level of contamination, then the industrial PCs would be protected and could simply be cleaned off. This gives the customer peace of mind that they can use industrial PCs in any environment without risking damage.”
