Fully autonomous security robot prepares to terrify intruders

Gamma 2 Robotics launches Ramsee, a fully autonomous security robot, in partnership with Hexagon 

Gamma 2 Robotics, which claims to be the maker of the world’s first artificially intelligent autonomous security robots, has launched Ramsee, a new security patrol robot, at HxGN Live, Hexagon’s international conference.

The launch at HxGN Live is part of a new partnership with Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure, which claims to be “the global leader in public safety and security solutions”.

Ramsee is a physical robot that patrols autonomously without supervision and provides real-time data on intruders, motion, heat, fire, smoke, gas and more. New IBM innovations to help The Championships, Wimbledon serve insights to fans worldwide  

IBM and The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), unveiled new technologies for The Championships 2016, marking the next phase in the AELTC’s award-winning digital transformation. 

IBM, which is the official supplier of information technology to Wimbledon, will be using all its artificial intelligence wizardry to keep tennis fans entertained and informed.

New for 2016 is an Apple TV app for Wimbledon developed by IBM Interactive Experience that will enable fans to engage with Wimbledon in the comfort of their own homes. Users will be able to browse real-time scores, watch the Live @ Wimbledon studio show, listen to three live radio channels, and delve through all of Wimbledon’s video and photo content, bringing the 2016 Wimbledon experience into their homes in the truest sense. 

New Wimbledon smartphone apps for iOS and Android, responsive to all screen sizes, will provide multi-content personalized feeds for fans at home and on the move. Robots threaten 42 per cent of Canadian jobs, says report

Brookfield Institute for Innovation + Entrepreneurship releases most comprehensive report to date assessing how automation will impact future employment in Canada

Automation is transforming traditional occupations, changing the day-to-day tasks of Canadians, and potentially creating new jobs, states new research from the Brookfield Institute for Innovation + Entrepreneurship (BII+E) at Ryerson University.

The report, released this week, entitled The Talented Mr Robot: The Impact of Automation on Canada’s Workforce analyzes automation and how it will directly affect the Canadian labour market over the next 10 to 20 years.

Connected avocado helps farmer cut costs by 75 per cent

Farmer slashes water consumption by three-quarters at IoT connected avocado farm 

Avocado trees which are monitored around the clock and get irrigated only when needed are enabling a farmer to make dramatic costs savings. 

The farmer uses the internet of things (IoT) to reduce water consumption by 75 per cent and gets put under utility surveillance for suspected meter tampering as a result.
