Norautron, an electronics manufacturer based in Norway, has invested in the ABB YuMi collaborative robot to help the company meet additional demands relating to a manufacturing agreement with Abax, a supplier of electronics for cars and other road vehicles.
Norautron fully automatic robotic work cell is said to be able to manufacture, assemble, mark and pack four unique products.
With this new cell, hardware can be assembled in Norway at a competitive cost level, says the company.

ABB has installed three YuMi robots on a new production line at its electrification products plant in Ede, the Netherlands.
Designed for use in small parts assembly, the three YuMi robots will assemble a new cavity wall socket called HW52-F.
ABB says that, due to its “inherently safe” design, the YuMi collaborative dual arm robot solution will ensure the safety of those around it and elevate the nature of work at the plant by performing repetitive tasks to perfection.

ABB’s YuMi dual-arm, collaborative robot rang the opening bell today at the Nasdaq MarketSite Studio in Times Square in New York City to start the trading day.
YuMi was a guest of Robo Global, which offers The Robo Global Robotics and Automation Index Series, the world’s first benchmark index series to track the global robotics and automation market.
Greg Scheu, president of the Americas region for ABB, joined YuMi and Robo Global executives at the podium for the ceremony.

Sony becomes first UK customer for ABB’s YuMi
Sony has become the first company in the UK to purchase ABB’s YuMi, the collaborative robot which has been making the headlines since its launch last a few months ago.
Sony’s UK Technology Centre manufactures broadcast and professional cameras and camera systems.
The company says YuMi is ideal for use in small parts assembly. Sony UK Technology will use ABB’s dual arm robot solution to pick and place circuit board parts.
