B&R has added a new visualization tool which it says accelerates the development of automation solutions featuring the company’s SuperTrak industrial transport system.
The tool displays a 3D simulation of all SuperTrak shuttle movements, as well as synchronized subsystems such as robotics and CNC.
Machine builders and operators can accelerate the commissioning process by validating their designs and sequential programming in advance. Continue reading B&R adds optimized engineering to 3D SuperTrak simulation
B&R’s Automation PC 910 is now optionally available with an Intel Xeon processor to make it more powerful, says the company.
The new microarchitecture provides a “50 per cent increase in performance” compared to the previous high-performance Core i processors, adds B&R, which was recently acquired by industrial giant ABB.
This level of performance allows effective handling of all applications that require fast analysis of large amounts of data, such as machine vision, data preparation for cloud applications and data mining for collection and analysis of quality data. B&R claims to have become the first company in the world to develop a field device for Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture (OPC UA).
The company says it has added the vendor-independent communication protocol to their X20 I/O system.
B&R says the new X20 I/O system bus controller makes it possible to implement OPC UA communication from the sensor layer to the enterprise resource planning (ERP) layer “without any interfaces whatsoever”. Continue reading B&R claims ‘world’s first’ OPC UA device
