Genesis Robotics offers smaller radial flux ‘LiveDrive’ actuator

Genesis Robotics and Motion Technologies (Genesis Robotics) is introducing a smaller, 110mm version of the LiveDrive TM actuator. This new, compact radial flux motor was developed to support a wider range of robotic designs.

The “LiveDrive 110” provides comparable high torque-to-weight, safe and precise actuation as the 250mm LiveDrive actuator, but its small size makes the actuator available for more versatile applications within and beyond robotics.

The LiveDrive actuator suite leverages three discoveries that contribute to the proprietary technology: amplified magnetics, structural-magnetic synergy and unusually high thermal conductivity.

“The latest iteration of the LiveDrive is small enough to encompass a robust solution that creates higher quality movements from machines across multiple industries,” said James Klassen, CTO and co-founder of Genesis Robotics.

“Geared actuators have remained largely unchanged for over 50 years and we’ve designed a solution that solves the challenges associated with traditional geared motors.”

“The LiveDrive is so precise and safe that it enables robots to finally interact with humans in life-changing applications like exoskeletons to help the disabled walk, or assistive arms to aid with heavy lifting for seniors,” said Klassen.
